The Journey Begins ...
It all started with my Dad seeing an article in the January 2013 issue of BassMaster Magazine. Mark Zona was commenting on blade baits and what he thought was his best pick for a blade bait which was the Blitz Blade. My cousin owned Blitz Lures Inc. at the time but shut the business down in the mid 2000's. My Dad thought it would be a good idea if I bought the business since my cousin was not interested in starting it back up. So in June of 2013 I traveled with my Dad and Mom from Rock Island Illinois to pickup all the supplies my cousin sold me. We loaded up a twin axil U-Haul trailer out in Fremont Ohio to the roof with boxes of lures, packaging material, painting equipment and a blister machine.
My Mother is retired and was eager to help. She prepared her garage to hold the blister machine along with all the packaging supplies. She is the type of person that can't sit still and loves to tinker with things and this was just the right time to get her "hooked" into helping me startup the business. So naturally I had to give her a title and thought VP of packaging would be very fitting.
The painting, assembly, design and some packaging is done out of my home in Dunlap Illinois. I transport the Blitz Blades, Blitz FireTails and Blitz Tailspins to my mothers to be packaged and ready for sale. This keeps me busy with my regular job, 2 kids (Freshmen girl in College and Freshmen boy in High School) and 3 dogs. My wife has been a great supporter of this business venture and she has helped with packaging and airbrush painting.
My Father loves to fish and that is an understatement. If he could fish 365 days a year 24 hours a day he would do it! So I found the perfect job for him which is VP of Product Testing. He and his friends try out the different colors and styles to ensure that they work correctly and the colors are what anglers are looking for. He also like to build his own lures so you never know you might see some "Topwater Joe" lures being offered in the near future under the Blitz Lures label.
I hope you enjoy fishing with my lures as much as I enjoy making them for you. Our number one goal is to ensure our customers are 100% satisfied so if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your business!
